Ok y’all can I share a realization I had on Sunday? Ok so boom I was at my happy place…well one of them. Sunday Dinner Playlist in WeHo. IYKYK, but If you dont, you can ask and I can share the deets. And we were celebrating iconic songs that turned 20 this year and when I say it was hit…after hit….after hit. I left feeling so full and inspired it was honestly just so dope to been a live music space hearing some amazing voices come together to sing some of my favorite songs from the early 2000s. Because let’s be honest…some albums collect dust while others collect memories.
But like yo it is crazy that 2006 was 20 years ago! Like not to age myself but Love had me in a chokehold singing in my auntie’s living room with the radio on blast. Songs like "So Sick," "Me & U," "Be Without You," "Hustlin'," and "Irreplaceable" weren't just sitting at the top of the charts for no reason, they became the soundtrack to first loves, late-night drives, kickbacks and cookouts.
The funny thing about good music like this is that it doesn't really age. The moment those opening notes play, you're right back where you were when you first heard it. You remember the outfit. The people. The feeling. Sometimes even the smell of the room.
That's exactly why we believe music and fragrance belong together.
At TAP Candle Co., we've always said we help you smell the songs you listen to because memories aren't stored in just one place…they're layered. Music brings back the emotion. Fragrance brings back the atmosphere. Together, they create an experience that's impossible to fake.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of these iconic records, we put together a playlist featuring 40 songs that helped define 2006. Whether you were burning CDs, customizing your MySpace page, waiting for 106 & Park, or downloading ringtones, chances are at least one to ten of these songs became part of your story.
So light your favorite TAP candle, press play, and let yourself drift back for a little while.
You might be surprised by what comes rushing back.
